Sasha Saltanova
1989, Yekaterinburg, Russia
Video, performance, installation
Sasha Saltanova turns to the study of the industrial heritage of the Urals through poetic images and finds them everywhere: in urban space, in everyday life. In her works, industrialism interacts with individuality, revealing new worlds: lyrical, sometimes even fairy-tale.

The artist is attracted by the functional beauty of everyday life. An installation of nearly folded tables ("Waiting") or a woman engrossed in her work ("Grandma washes her boot covers in the snow") - her works show great attention to every instant.
Sasha Saltanova sees herself as a resident of a large industrial city, who brings her dreams and desires to life through her works: In the photo series "Northern Lights in my City" she seeks to capture invisible light. In the installation "Snowdrops" and the series of collages "Vegetation" she returns to the nature lost in pursuit of industrial progress of the city. In the installation called "Small Town", she places a town in a cradle, to express a caring attitude towards a large town, treating it as if it was a small child.
One of the main themes of the artist is seeing miracles in everyday life. Sasha asks a question: is a person ready to believe in miracles after seeing them in everyday life? (Video "Once").
