Svetlana Spirina is one of the artists representing the new generation of the performance
artists of the Ural art scene. Her practice covers photography, video and performance art, as
well as script writing for performance stagings. Body presence, movement and poetic speech
are the main tools that Svetlana uses to build up her pieces.
Everyday routine appears as a swirling process to Svetlana, a never-ending formation, a
process of non-fixed, renewable dialogue. The central theme in her work is the study of our
everyday communication contours: between humans and, especially, humans and other than
humans. Main materials she works with are living forms of intimacy and attachment, originating
from everyday situations and human habitual space.
